About Me
Background:
I possess a MAT (k-6) certification and a Med (k-12 Reading Specialist) certification from Salem College. I also possess a JD degree from Campbell Law School, a BS from WFU in Health and Sport Science, and a BA from WFU in Sociology. I have been teaching at Calvary Baptist Day School since 2004. Prior to this employment, I taught two (2) years at Forsyth Technical Institute (Paralegal studies), one (1) year at Easton Elementary School, and six (6) years at Center Grove Christian Academy.
Family:
I currently live with my grandmother in Winston-Salem. I have one child – the four legged kind – named Charlie Brown. Charlie Brown is a cocker spaniel that is very active in agility, flyball, and tracking. I am the youngest of five siblings and am blessed to have most of them living nearby.
Life Verse:
Jeremiah 29:11-13 – “’For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the Lord, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.’”
Did you Know?
I have a black belt in Tae Kwon Do and I am currently studying to earn my second degree black belt.
In the Classroom:
In my American Government - 10th grade class - students will learn the foundation of our system of government, study the origin of several of America's historical documents, and learn the political system surrounding our election process. Likewise, due in part to my legal background, students will learn various supreme court cases that have shaped America, learn their rights as guaranteed under the Bill of Rights and the Constitution of the United States of America, and learn to debate the merits of such rights.
